Safe Indoor Air For Oregon Schools is currently doing monthly community meetings.
The focus of these meetings is to discuss and advance our effort to improve indoor air quality in Portland Public Schools. We talk about things like:
- The state of our schools’ HVAC systems
- Ventilation issues in the district we’re trying to fix
- The science denial from the district on this issue
- Temperature issues in our kids’ classrooms
- Organizing to effect change in district policy and practice on indoor air quality
- Your questions about air quality issues in your school or your kids’ classroomÂ
PPS continues to make baffling decisions about indoor air quality that are counterproductive to health and learning. Working together, we can achieve wins for clean air for our kids and educators.
Meetings are generally on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 to 8pm over Zoom. The meeting will get started at 6:30pm, but feel free to drop in at any point over the course of the 6:30 to 8pm time period — we are trying a combination meeting and “office hours.” If you just have a question or concern about your room or your school, but do not have time for general organizing for district-level change, drop on by to get help with your issue. If the first Thursday is a holiday, we will likely pick an alternate day for that month.
